President: Easing rhetoric crucial to relocate process to negotiations table

Easing rhetoric is crucial to relocate the process to the negotiations table to seek the way out, said President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili during the meeting with Christian Danielsson, a special envoy of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, at Orbeliani Presidential Palace.

President welcomed the engagement of Christian Danielsson, as a mediator, in the negotiations between the ruling Georgian Dream party and opposition. She expressed hope that the visit would be constructive to resolve the situation.

President Zourabichvili said that despite differences, the parties involved in the negotiations were united around Georgia’s European integration aspiration that was unwavering. Christian Danielsson said Georgia always served as an example of democracy and stability in the region that should not be changed.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell and Christian Danielsson’s Advisor Magdalena Grono attended the meeting. The special envoy of the President of the European Council arrived in Georgia with 3-day visit.
