The portrait of Georgian King Teimuraz has been returned to Georgia after 257 years and is now exhibited at Art Palace. An activity was held on the occasion of the return of royal treasure to the motherland.

The return of the portrait became possible with help of Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream Party and Georgian business tycoon, and Kartu Fund.

“This is an event, which deserves appreciation because it directly means attention to culture,” Giorgi Gugushvili, Rector of Art Academy stated.

Experts of Art Palace led negotiations with 1Sstibs Gallery for the purchase of the portrait. Kartu Fund bought the portrait at the price of USD 38 400.
