Police seize major haul of drugs and arrest convicted felon

Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) have arrested a previously convicted individual on charges of the illegal purchase, possession, and facilitation of the sale of an exceptionally large quantity of narcotics.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a personal search of the suspect led law enforcement officers to seize an exceptionally large amount of cannabis, up to one kilogram, portioned into 89 separate deals ready for distribution, as material evidence.

The agency further stated that subsequent investigative operations also yielded various packaging materials used for the distribution of illicit drugs.

The investigation is currently being conducted under Articles 260 and 260-quater of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a maximum penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
