Police seize large cache of illegal drugs in Tbilisi and detain six suspects, including five foreign nationals

Police in Tbilisi have arrested six suspects, including five foreign nationals, on charges of purchasing, storing, and aiding the distribution of commercial quantities of illegal drugs.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), officers executing search warrants on the suspects’ persons, residences, and designated drop points seized large volumes of pre-packaged narcotics intended for sale, including methadone and clephedrone.

Law enforcement officers also recovered packaging materials used for wholesale distribution during the targeted operations.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260 (4) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
