Police intercept large quantity of drugs in Samegrelo; Ukrainian national detained

Officers from the Senaki District Division of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), have apprehended a Ukrainian national, identified as O.S., born in 1983, on suspicion of illegal possession, purchase, and storage of narcotics, as well as facilitating their illicit sale.

Following a thorough search of the suspect’s personal belongings, vehicle, and residence, law enforcement officials recovered 50 packages of the narcotic substance “Methadone,” containing granules and loose material prepared for sale, which have been secured as evidence.

In addition, investigators seized a sum of money believed to have been obtained from the sale of narcotics.

The case remains under investigation under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.
