Police incinerate 700kg stash of illegal drugs worth over GEL 37 million
A permanent commission, established by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, has destroyed nearly 700 kilograms of various narcotics seized from illegal circulation during law enforcement operations across Georgia. The total street value of the drugs is estimated to exceed 37 million GEL, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Officers from the Forensic-Criminalistics Department destroyed an exceptionally large quantity of various types of narcotics in a specialised, modern, high-temperature incinerator. The destroyed haul included heroin, cocaine, Alpha-PVP, clephedrone, MDMA, buprenorphine, tramadol, diazepam, codeine, methadone, and cannabis. Psychotropic and new psychoactive substances were also destroyed.
In accordance with current legislation, the disposal process was carried out in line with modern environmental standards. Alongside Ministry of Internal Affairs staff who sit on the permanent commission, representatives from the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs also took part,” the Ministry’s statement read.
