Police detain two individuals in Tbilisi on drug charges, including foreign national; seize large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances

Officers from the Old Tbilisi Division of the Tbilisi Police Department, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), have apprehended two individuals on charges related to the facilitation of the illegal purchase, storage, and sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities. Among those detained is a foreign national. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a statement regarding the operation.

According to the MIA, the investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 260-quarter, and 261 of the Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.

“In the course of a search of the suspects’ personal belongings, as well as a vehicle belonging to one of them, law enforcement officers seized a substantial amount of narcotics and psychotropic substances as evidence, including 500 pregabalin pills and up to 2 kilograms of dried cannabis,” the Ministry stated.
