Police cordons removed from Chitadze, Chichinadze streets, Interior Ministry says
Georgian Interior Ministry says police cordons are being removed from Chitadze and Chichinadze streets, allowing people to demonstrate anywhere they wish.
The Ministry urges political party leaders, organisers, and rally participants to respect the law and demonstrate peacefully.
“Employees of various police units are mobilized in the vicinity of the parliament building to prevent artificial escalation of events and protect public order.
The law enforcers ensured the safe exit of the deputies and the employees of the parliament administration from the building.
At the moment, police cordons are being withdrawn from Chitadze and Chichinadze streets, and the participants of the rally will have the opportunity to express their protest at the place preferable to them.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on leaders of political parties, organizers, and participants of the rally not to violate the law, to express their protest peacefully and not to carry out violent actions.
Once again, we call on participants of the protest that blocking the entrances of administrative bodies is forbidden as well as paralyzing highways.
The police will immediately foil any violation of the law, and measures defined by the law will be taken against those who violate the public order,” reads the Ministry’s statement.
