“Youth, who was standing on the stage, are all affiliated with the UNM or its satellite organizations. About 60 policemen were injured and some got almost burnt alive. Who shall we forgive this to?! All these offenders will be punished most strictly,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Sunday.

In an interview with Imedi TV, the Head of the Government noted that “the so-called Franklin Club was established at a university of Saakashvili’s mother – Giuli Alasanya – which brainwashes the youth.”

According to the PM, “youth of the Franklin Club and trained members of the destructive movement of Zurab Japaridze’s Girchi were behaving in the most provocative and defiant manner. They were instructed to directly obstruct the special tasks force officers, policemen.”

“Nobody should be illusioned that the youth standing on the stage – and we know them all individually – are affiliated to the UNM or its satellite organizations – European Georgia, Girchi, Vashadze’s Party, and others. Also, another noteworthy fact is that the engagement of the so-called Franklin Club was vivid. Youth is [mentally] poisoned and it should be said out loud. I do not wish to jump ahead of events or to jeopardize the investigation, but this is vividly anti-statehood, undermining activity. A lot of young people, including school children, are brainwashed at the so-called Franklin Club. Now, what happens and where is this Franklin Club stationed? It operates at the university of Saakashvili’s mother – Giuli Alasanya, who – by the way, I wish to remind the youth – got it from her son for 1 GEL when Saakashvili was President. This very university houses an enclave with a lot of foreigners around it and youth are [mentally] poisoned. They are brainwashed.

Let me give you a real case. It is verified information and I want to share it with our people. Especially the youth of the Franklin Club and trained members of the destructive movement of Zurab Japaridze’s Girchi were behaving in the most provocative and defiant manner. I wish to address our society and youth, their parents, our brothers, and sisters – everyone. What is the society we wish to build? What is the country we wish to build? We say that we crave to build a genuinely European society and we aspire towards this. We wish to have peace and stability. We wish to unify and solidify our country. We wish to charge our economy. Who dares, how do they dare to use these young people as a shield by putting them at the frontline to throw the Molotov Cocktails? You have all seen the footage.
