“We will do our best for the development of football; large-scale investments are intended in this direction,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the awarding ceremony at the Georgian Football Federation (GFF).
The PM remarked that children demonstrate great interest in football, but often the current infrastructure cannot keep up with their wishes.
“Construction of 30 technical stadiums will be launched shortly, of which 23 will be completed next year. Also, stadiums will be constructed in 8 cities, which will contribute to the development of children’s football on the one hand and to the development of our national championship on the other. We will invest maximum effort in the development of football.
There is a great interest among children in football, and often the infrastructure cannot catch up with all this. We aim to upgrade infrastructure and pace it with increased demand for more Georgian children to get involved in football.
This means not only sporting achievements, but also better health, a healthy lifestyle, which should be promoted among our children and the next generation,” he said.
The PM extended gratitude to Georgian football players, keen supporters of Georgian football. He wished them a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and good luck in 2026. “I am convinced that 2026 will be a very successful year for Georgian football,” he concluded.
