PM says debt relief for 600,000 citizens has nothing to do with bribery
The debt relief for 600,000 citizens has nothing to do with bribery, – Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said during the debates in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
A member of PACE asked the Prime Minister of Georgia about the concern that the debt relief was funded ahead of elections in order to bribe voters.
“It has nothing to do with bribery. I initiated this issue as a Finance Minister a year before the elections. As the Prime Minister, I declared in August that over 600,000 people could not participate in economic life because they were blacklisted. This programme was very successful and let me repeat once again that it was not related to the elections. We announced about it much before the elections,” Georgian PM said.
