PM participates in panel discussion at EPC Summit
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze took part in a panel discussion titled “Economic Security – Reducing European Dependencies” during the 7th Summit of the European Political Community (EPC).
According to the government administration, Kobakhidze underscored Georgia’s transit potential and its strategic role in the development of the Middle Corridor. He emphasized the country’s geographic advantage, its cooperation in the field of mineral resources, and its ability to support stable and diversified supply chains of critical minerals for both the European Union and global markets.
“Georgia’s goal is to further develop the Middle Corridor by improving its efficiency, thereby strengthening its role as a reliable and competitive East-West transport route. Our strategic location allows us to serve as a vital transit gateway. Through ports, railways, and highways, Georgia ensures the rapid movement of cargo and enhances the competitiveness of the corridor, reinforcing our role in global supply chains,” Kobakhidze stated.
The Prime Minister also highlighted key infrastructure projects aimed at improving Georgia’s logistics capacity, including the construction of the Anaklia deep-sea port and the modernization of the national railway network.
The roundtable discussion was co-chaired by the Prime Ministers of Iceland and Ireland and brought together high-level participants, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and other European leaders.
