PM-led Cabinet meeting reviews 17 agenda items

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held and led the Executive Government Meeting at the Government Administration today. The Cabinet members considered 17 agenda items at the meeting.

According to the government’s press office, the members inter alia discussed a topic related to the buy-out of Khudoni Hydro Power Plant (HPP) on the grounds of an agreement concluded on the transfer of the asset to the state.

Draft Law of Georgia on E-Commerce was among the discussion topics and regulations stemming from it to streamline matters related to electronic trade. New law initiated by the Economy Ministry should ensure the protection of consumer rights in the process of electronic commerce and obligations of the service providers to be met for the provision of basic information to customers, which will increase the trust towards service providers and reduce the risk exposure for the customers. Draft Law has been developed within the scope of commitments assumed by the country under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), for the inclusion of rights and obligations of intermediary service providers in the legislation of Georgia. Draft Law was developed with technical assistance (TA) of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

One more topic, which was discussed by the Government Members, was related to the endorsement of a Draft Government Decree on Youth Strategy of the State for 2023-2026. It was developed under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia. It is the first ever Strategy on Youth and will serve as a key guiding document of the Government of Georgia towards this end.

Other agenda items included several Draft Government Decrees on Development of Wind, Solar and Hydro Power. Installed capacity of the referred projects is over 295 megawatts, the statement concluded.
