PM: Law enforcement agencies averted four externally funded attempts to violently change constitutional order

“We have witnessed four attempts to violently change the constitutional order funded from abroad, which were thwarted by law enforcement agencies and structures,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters.

Irakli Kobakhidze commended law enforcement structures and remarked that the stability of the state stood on the strength of their representatives.

“We have passed through complex processes, but justice prevailed. I would like to commend each officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Special Task Force, and State Security Service for averting four attempts to change the government violently over the last 4 years. Without their high responsibility towards the state, motherland and commitment to homeland, we would not have such a result. We have witnessed four attempts to violently change the constitutional order funded from abroad, which were thwarted by law enforcement agencies and structures. The stability of the state stands on the strength of each officer,” he said.

According to the PM, the investigation continues into each fact of law violation.

“Investigations have been initiated and are ongoing regarding all violations of the law. In a specific case, it was possible to identify the culprit. If it becomes possible to identify the culprit in another case, of course, the state will act with maximum responsibility there as well. Criminal proceedings are launched in different directions, wait for the development of events,” he said.
