PM Kobakhidze nominates Tamaz Borashvili as new Head of the State Security Service
Tamaz Borashvili is set to assume the post of Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze officially announced Borashvili’s nomination during a press briefing today.
Under established statutory procedures, the candidacy for Head of the State Security Service is submitted by the Prime Minister and subject to formal confirmation by Parliament.
Borashvili currently serves as Deputy Head of the SSSG, having previously served as Director of the agency’s State Security Department.
The nomination follows the resignation of Geka Geladze as Head of the State Security Service earlier today, who announced that he will transition to a new position within the state apparatus.
