PM Kobakhidze: Georgia survived five attempts at violent revolution; we shall not allow it to happen again
“Over the past several years, Georgia has witnessed five attempts at revolution, the majority of them violent. We must not allow this to happen again, and we shall do everything in our power to prevent it. First there was Ackermann, then others, and now there is Blažević. The surnames change, but who stands behind them, that is the crux of the matter,” said Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, speaking to journalists in Antalya.
According to the Prime Minister, the government had succeeded in stabilising the situation in the country, including through legislation adopted regarding the funding of non-governmental organisations.
“What we are witnessing today is a deeply troubling pattern: foreign interference, including financial interference, being deployed to destabilise Georgia. Society must confront this, first and foremost, by calling it what it is. Over the past several years, Georgia has witnessed five attempts at revolution, the majority of them violent. We must not permit this to happen again, and we shall do everything necessary to prevent it. First there was Ackermann, then others, and now there is Blažević. The surnames change, but who stands behind them, that is what matters. This is the force we call the global war party, a force that wishes to give our country and our people no peace. We have managed to stabilise the situation in the country, including through the legislation adopted regarding NGO funding. We take responsibility for ensuring that this stability is maintained,” the Prime Minister declared.
