Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met with the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe, Commander of the US European Command, General Christopher Cavoli within the framework of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).
The long-term US-Georgia strategic partnership cooperation was noted at the meeting. The assistance that the US had provided over the years to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions, build defense capabilities and promote economic growth was emphasized. The parties discussed the prospects of future cooperation.
The conversation at the meeting touched on the support from the US in terms of increasing Georgia’s defense capabilities, and the country’s contribution to the common Euro-Atlantic security was noted. The head of the government thanked the General for the US support of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration process, the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
According to the Prime Minister, Georgia is and will remain the most reliable and loyal ally of the US in the region and beyond; Georgia welcomes more active US involvement and investment in strengthening the security and economic development and connectivity of the Black Sea region.
