PM: Gov't decide to increase gambling business tax

The profit tax of the gambling business will be increased from 10 to 15%, while the cash withdrawal tax will be 5% instead of 2%, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced at the Cabinet meeting.

According to the PM, the amendment will bring an additional GEL 400 million to the state budget in 2024. Irakli Garibashvili said he regretted the rise of gambling business turnover against the change made in 2022 prohibiting advertising and restricting the participation of individuals under 25.

“We see that a lot of citizens are involved in the gambling business. We have decided to increase taxes on this business, which will mean GEL 400 million next year. In total, the revised version of the budget will increase by 700 million, and the combined budget will amount to GEL 28 billion 500 million. This will be the 2024 state budget,” he said.
