Government to subsidize half of price differential of electricity tariff for local food companies

Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, said that a price differential in increased electricity tariff would be subsidized by 50% for local food companies. This subsidy will help prevent a rise in prices for food produced in Georgia.

“The government decided that all companies that are part of primary employment, food production, local production, will have a fully subsidized price differential in the increased electricity cost by 50% in 2021. It would be a minimum that allows us to make sure that the increased electricity tariff will not affect the final price of food produced in Georgia,” Gakharia said.

The electricity tariff increased by 0.035 GEL for Telasi and Energo Pro Georgia consumers from January 1, 2021.
