PM: German Ambassador summoned over violations of Vienna Convention and interference in domestic affairs
“The summoning of the German Ambassador is a diplomatic measure, an action taken when an ambassador operating in Georgia grossly breaches the principles of the Vienna Convention,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists in Telavi in reference to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ decision to summon the German Ambassador.
According to the Prime Minister, Mr Fischer is directly involved in the activities of the radical opposition and is attempting to exert pressure on Georgia’s independent judiciary.
“I believe there is no need to comment further on Mr Fischer. When his term concludes, he will leave the country. It’s entirely unnecessary to make any additional remarks about him. Regarding the summoning of the German Ambassador, this is a standard diplomatic procedure, usually employed when an ambassador in Georgia flagrantly breaches the principles of the Vienna Convention. This is a routine diplomatic step. Should the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wish, it can provide a detailed explanation.
I would emphasise that Mr Fischer is directly involved in radical opposition activities and is actively trying to pressure Georgia’s independent judiciary,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
