PM: Georgia is region's leading state in terms of stability and progress thanks to foreign policy
“Thanks to Georgia’s deliberate and principled foreign policy, our country is today the leading state in the region in terms of stability and progress, and Georgian diplomats’ contribution to this is exceptional,” Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, stated in his address at an event marking Diplomats’ Day.
The Head of Government congratulated diplomats on their professional day and thanked them for their loyal service and professionalism, which serve the country’s interests, foreign policy priorities, and the strengthening and consolidation of the nation’s sovereignty.
“Marking Diplomats’ Day has already become a tradition, and it is symbolic that this day is associated with the name of the distinguished Georgian thinker and public figure, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani, whose activities laid the foundation for the development of Georgian diplomacy. This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of the First Republic’s Foreign Minister and distinguished diplomat, Akaki Chkhenkeli.
Georgian diplomats must continue their admirable service, following the example set by these very individuals who are dedicated to serving Georgia’s interests, safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, and strengthening Georgia’s position on the international stage.
The Georgian government’s primary priority has always been, and remains, the de-occupation and restoration of territorial integrity through peaceful means, as well as ensuring peace and development. This approach is the response to all the challenges facing our nation. Thanks to Georgia’s deliberate and principled foreign policy, our country is now the leading state in the region in terms of stability and progress, with the exceptional contributions of Georgian diplomats playing a vital role in this achievement.
The past five years, and especially the last three, have been filled with numerous challenges for our country and our state. In this context, the role of Georgian diplomats has been truly exceptional. We are proud that, throughout these years, Georgia’s diplomatic corps and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have steadfastly defended our national interests with dedication and pride.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to every ambassador and every employee of Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their unwavering commitment. Once again, I congratulate our diplomatic corps on their professional day, thank you, and wish you success in your very responsible work,” the Prime Minister stated.
