PM emphasises winemaking as integral part of Georgia’s culture and identity
“For us, winemaking is not merely a sector of the economy or agriculture. It is an essential part of our culture and identity. Therefore, new initiatives in this area are especially welcomed,” declared Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the opening of Wine Era, a new winery in Vachnadziani village in the Kakheti region.
According to the Prime Minister, Georgian winemaking contributes to a global civilisation that “must be nurtured.”
He expressed his pleasure at attending the launch of the new facility, where wine would be crafted using ancient traditions alongside European technologies, all aimed at meeting international standards. He noted that at the Vachnadziani plant, age-old winemaking practices and modern innovations intertwine, and “this scientific, analysis-based approach” guarantees the high quality of the wine.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the social impact of the project, stating that dozens of local residents would find employment there, contributing to the improvement of their livelihoods.
“Supporting winemaking remains one of our top priorities. Much has been done in recent years to support this industry in various ways. This support will undoubtedly continue. We see positive trends, the sector is steadily growing, and production is increasing. We will do everything possible to further support this vital industry. Today’s opening confirms the special trust and interest in this field. Once again, I want to emphasise that it will have our full backing. Our centuries-old traditions must be preserved and carried forward,” he affirmed.
