PM discusses concept of education system reform with higher education institutions' rectors

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian Prime Minister, held a meeting with the rectors of state higher education institutions to discuss the concept of education system reform, the Government Administration reported.

The Head of Government of Georgia spoke in detail about the aspects of the concept aimed at substantially improving the quality of higher education.

The discussion covered several key topics, including the redistribution of faculties among universities, the need for the development of regional universities and the decentralization of the education system.

The Prime Minister of Georgia emphasized the importance of considering the views and insights of rectors and academic staff to ensure the effective implementation of the reform, noting that such meetings will continue in the future.

Following the discussions, the concept of the education reform will be finalized and approved by the Government of Georgia.

The meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia and the university rectors was held in a question-and-answer format, during which rectors received responses from the Head of Government of Georgia on matters of their interest.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, Deputy Minister Zviad Gabisonia, Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani and Secretary of the Cross-Government Commission on Higher Education Reform Levan Izoria.
