PM describes EU Council reports as admission of responsibility for anti-state actions against Georgia
“I would describe the EU Council’s statement as an admission of responsibility for criminal and anti-state actions carried out against the Georgian people and the Georgian state,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in response to questions regarding the EU Council Presidency report.
According to him, when the conclusion refers to the detention of individuals directly involved in revolutionary processes, it implies that the European bureaucracy is accepting responsibility for acts aimed at undermining the statehood and the constitutional order.
“People who were directly involved in revolutionary activities and attacks on state institutions are being detained. It appears that the European bureaucracy is assuming responsibility for these actions, which are described as acts against statehood and the constitutional order. If I were in their position, I certainly would not accept responsibility for such criminal acts.
Regarding the legislation, they are referring to the Law on Transparency, and there is no ground for criticism in this regard. This law allowed us to clearly identify everything, which was its main purpose. All entities, so-called NGOs, civil society organisations, and foreign agencies, were assigned proper names.
Ultimately, it appears that some within the European bureaucracy do not favour this. In their position, I would not accept responsibility for the anti-state actions carried out over the years by these so-called NGOs and civil society organisations. I believe this statement amounts to an acceptance of responsibility for the criminal and anti-state actions committed against the Georgian people and the Georgian state,” the Prime Minister concluded.
