PM: Current U.S. administration sees European developments in same way we have in recent years

“The European bureaucracy has now rediscovered the principle of sovereignty, that no external entity should interfere in the internal affairs of a nation, despite having violated this very principle against us daily. Double standards are plainly evident,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, commenting on the statement made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Kobakhidze highlighted that Ursula von der Leyen’s remarks reveal clear double standards.

“Today, the current U.S. administration is assessing the developments in Europe in exactly the same way as we have over recent years, which evidently does not sit well with the European bureaucracy. They have now invoked the principle of sovereignty, that no one from outside should meddle in another country’s affairs, even though they have been violating this very principle against us daily. The double standards are unmistakable. The U.S. administration is accurately evaluating the situation within the European Union, and our assessment has been consistent all along,” Kobakhidze stated.

For context, Ursula von der Leyen recently declared that U.S. President Donald Trump should not interfere in European democracy.
