PM chairs meeting in connection with World Championship in freestyle skiing, snowboarding
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili led a working meeting in the government administration regarding the World Championship in freestyle skiing and snowboarding to be held in Georgia.
Organizational and preparatory issues of the championship were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that important infrastructure has been organized in Bakuriani to make the resort fully ready for hosting the World Cup.
At the moment, about 2,000 international guests have already been registered, who will visit Bakuriani from 42 countries. In parallel with the course of the championship, entertainment events will be held regularly under the organization of the government.
The World Championship is held in Bakuriani with the support of the Government of Georgia, organized by the Mountain Tracks Agency and the Ski Federation of Georgia. The championship will be held from February 16 to March 5, 2023, under the auspices of the International Ski Federation (FIS).
30 competitions in 7 sports will be held at the World Championship.
Within the framework of the World Championship project, three new cable cars, 29 kilometers of artificial snowmaking systems, two artificial water reservoirs, totalling 307,000 cubic meters, 6 new competition tracks, special equipment and safety equipment were built in Bakuriani. About 300 million GEL was invested.
