Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili chaired the Economic Council meeting at the Government Administration on Saturday.

Current economic trends and new investments were discussed by the Council Members. It was noted that irrespective of the situation created within the region and throughout the world, Georgia reached a double-digit economic growth indicator of 10.3% in the first seven months of the year, which is a significant achievement.

Rising trend of proceeds from tourism was noted as well. It was stated that revenues generated from inbound travel exceeded the previous year indicator in August of 2022 for the second time in a row and reached 2.1BLN USD in January-August 2022, which is a 94.6% recovery of the 2019 indicator.

Economic Council Members discussed the performance of grape harvest also. As noted at the meeting, over 70 000 tons of grapes are processed in the Kakheti region as of September 16 and warehousing of the crop is seamless. Winemakers collected grapes from 7000 vineyard holders and revenues generated by local farmers exceeded 70 MLN GEL. Almost 140 companies already processed grapes in various volumes.
