“There is disagreement within the radical opposition; they are conveying divergent messages to society. This is a good thing, as it allows us to finally calm the society and the country. This is our main task,” said Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, commenting on Giorgi Gakharia’s position regarding October 4.

According to the head of government, this process will ultimately help to pacify the nation, and the government will support it to the fullest extent.

“There is disagreement within the radical opposition; they are spreading radically divergent messages to the public. All of this is beneficial for us so that we can finally bring calm to the public and the country. This is our primary goal. This is the right process that will lead us to a calmer state. It is our task, and we will do our utmost to facilitate it,” Irakli Kobakhidze emphasised.

The chairman of the Gakharia for Georgia party, Giorgi Gakharia, declared on one of Georgian media outlet: “Declaring revolution and peaceful overthrow after an electoral boycott, on October 4, at the appointed day, at the appointed place, at the appointed time, was the greatest gift to Georgian Dream, which used this madness to mask its limited legitimacy and show Georgian citizens what the alternative looks like.”

Additionally, Gakharia remarked, “When you tell citizens that October 4 should be a day of peaceful overthrow and you lack the resources for revolution, they will blame the people. It turned out to be insufficient. What can we do?” Gakharia argued that “equating the peaceful overthrow of October 4, or a peaceful revolution, with a public protest was, in fact, a delegitimisation of that protest and a legitimisation of the Georgian Dream.”
