PM appoints new Head of Intelligence Service

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze appointed Irakli Beraia as the new Head of the Georgian Intelligence Service.

Irakli Beraia served as Chair of the parliamentary Defense and Security Committee. He has held different positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Irakli Beraia replaced Shalva Lomidze on the post.

PM Irakli Kobakhidze issued an order dismissing Major General Shalva Lomidze from his position on April 4 “based on Article 9, Paragraph 1 of the Law on the Intelligence Service of Georgia,” reads the order published on the government’s website.
