PM accuses radical opposition patrons, not government, of forcing MPs into prison
“It was the patrons of the radical opposition who drove the opposition out of parliament and into prisons; we did not do that,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the Prime Minister, those backing the opposition must take responsibility for the current situation.
“Firstly, everyone can review the legislation of EU member states where similar strict sanctions are imposed for refusing to attend the sittings of parliamentary investigative commissions.
Secondly, when we speak of foreign influences—those motivating our opposition’s refusal to recognize the parliament’s legitimacy—they bear responsibility for what is unfolding. In fact, it is they who pushed the opposition out of parliament and into prisons. We did not do that.
Patrons of the opposition have orchestrated this. Why did they do it? Because they engaged them in revolutionary processes that ultimately ended in complete fiasco,” he explained.
