People’s Power's Sozar Subari: Every new UNM leader sinks below rock bottom; if they keep digging, they will reduce to absolute zero

“Saakashvili is not a Georgian citizen; therefore, his involvement in Georgian politics, and the United National Movement’s unquestioning obedience to him, constitutes a crime and a violation of the Constitution of Georgia,” stated the Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia and Chairman of People’s Power, Sozar Subari.

Sozar Subari was asked for comment regarding a Facebook post by Mikheil Saakashvili, in which the former president announced plans for radical changes within the United National Movement (UNM).

“I genuinely do not know who the next chairman of the United National Movement will be, nor do I care. Every single time they elect a new chairman, I think to myself that they have hit rock bottom and there is nowhere lower to go. Yet, somehow, every single new candidate manages to sink far below that previous low. If they manage to punch through the bottom entirely, they will reduce themselves to absolute zero even faster.

The fact remains that, in this instance, the United National Movement is actively flouting Georgian law. Saakashvili is not a citizen of Georgia. Consequently, his meddling in Georgian politics, coupled with the United National Movement’s blind subordination to him, is a criminal offence and a flagrant breach of the Georgian Constitution and our legislation,” Sozar Subari stated.

Subari was also questioned about the Opposition Alliance. In his assessment, coalitions of this nature will never manage to solidify into a unified force.

“If there is one thing the collective United National Movement knows how to do well, and where they are undisputed champions, it is hurling insults and curses. May God help them keep doing exactly that. As for alliances like this, no matter how many directives they receive from the West and their superiors, they will never unite into a single cohesive force because every last one of them wants to be the leader. There simply are not enough top spots to go around in one single alliance,” Subari concluded.
