Patriarch Shio III: We should start Transfiguration with our fellows by mending our relationship with them; not to say bad of others and not to respond with vengeance
“Our Lord Jesus Christ came down to the earth for us to undergo Transfiguration. To all of us who have come to the church, to those who have come to God, the Lord has given us faith as a reward and not for our merits or any work. He has seen in us the possibility of transformation, that through this faith we will change our lives, our spiritual life will be transformed,” said Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Mitropolitan of Tskhum-Abkhazeti, His Holiness and Beatitude Shio III, during festive church service at the Samtavro Transfiguration Church of the Nunnery of St. Nino in Mtskheta in connection with Transfiguration of Jesus marked on August 19.
According to the Patriarch, for the Lord, it is significant that each undergoes transfiguration.
“We should start Transfiguration with our fellows, by mending our relationship with them. We should be more patient, not to say bad about others and not to respond with vengeance. We should attempt to serve individuals, assist them, relieve the burden of illness or other difficulties. In this way, if we make an effort, the Lord will help us. Several months and years will pass, and we will discover changes in ourselves.
To constantly dwell in judgment, discontent, wrath, and other passions, such a life is extremely heavy and painful; ultimately, what is such a life? It is a true hell, and it is precisely from this hell that the Lord desires to lead us out and set us free,” said the Patriarch.
