Tbilisi City Hall releases statement on discovery of artefacts during Rustaveli Avenue reconstruction process
“During the implementation of ongoing infrastructure projects in Tbilisi, and when discovering archaeological or historic artefacts, Tbilisi City Hall closely cooperates with the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia and makes decisions based on recommendations,” reads the statement released by the Tbilisi City Hall.
According to the statement, the Tbilisi City Hall notified the Agency about the discovery of brick walls and ceramic pottery in the road section between Freedom Square metro station and the National Museum of Georgia.
“Upon receiving the notification, the Agency’s specialists in the relevant field responded immediately. They inspected the discovered objects on-site and issued recommendations. Work on the section will continue in strict accordance with the recommendations provided,” reads the statement.
