The First Channel will make the ethnic minorities feel that they are part of this country, – Pascal Meunier Ambassador of France to Georgia made the regarding statement during the presentation of the new project of the First Channel “Diverse Georgia”.

As Ambassador noted the representatives of ethnic minorities will receive information in the languages through the First Channel.

I’m very happy that the First Channel has launched such wonderful new programs. I’m glad that this day coincides with the Day of Freedom of Press. This will once again focus on unity within diversity of the populations.  I’ve visited some villages in the regions, where some people feel a bit away from Tbilisi, due to problems of understanding Georgian language. So, I think that initiative will make ethnic minorities feel that they are part of this country. I would like to underline the fact that the First Channel will have regional bureaus soon in Batumi, Kutaisi and Kakheti”, – Ambassador said.

The presentation of the First Channel’s project “Diverse Georgia” has been held at the building of the Public Broadcaster earlier this afternoon. Within the scope of project, the first broadcast of online radio- television in Azerbaijani and Armenian languages has been launched.

The project “Diverse Georgia” aims to insure accessibility of information for ethnic minorities, promote the integration process, increase civic consciousness and promote dialogue among diverse cultures.

The presentation was attended by representatives of international organizations, as well as diplomatic corps, including ambassadors of France and Armenia, as well as representatives of the Embassy of Azerbaijan.
