Parliamentary majority to make decision about candidacy on post of Ombudsman

The parliamentary majority will presumably make the decision about the candidacy for port of new Public Defender of Georgia today.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of Parliament, no consultations have been held about the issue yet.

The non-governmental organizations presented 4 candidates: Ana Natsvlishvili, Nino Lomjaria, Zviad Koridze and Vakhushti Menabde for post. The criteria for selection are independence, qualification and experience in human rights.

Duty terms of current Ombudsman Ucha Nanuashvili expire on December 7. Parliament elects Public Defender with 5 year term.
