Parliamentary Majority leader: No foreigner to decide issues in Georgia

“The recommendation is to have an opposition representative as deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC). This does not happen in any of the European countries. Therefore, we will not do what is not a practice in Europe,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority.

According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the decisions about Georgia should be made in Georgia and this approach will not be revised.

In Mdinaradze’s words, the recommendations provided by the Venice Commission are used for “malevolent purposes” in Georgia. He also stated that the ruling party would not take into account calls for vetting in the court system.

“We will not take into account any calls regarding ‘vetting,’ since decisions about Georgia are made in Georgia. This approach will not be revised, and no foreigner will ever decide some issues in Georgia,” he said.
