Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, participates in the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Luanda, Angola, on October 23-27.

As Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Foreign Relations Committee chair, said the Georgian delegation will hold over 15 meetings with Parliament Speakers of different countries from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, focusing on Georgia’s occupied territories and the country’s progress.

“We will share our experience with them in terms of various important reforms and will try to gain their support at the UN General Assembly when Georgia is discussed,” Nikoloz Samkharadze said.

According to the Foreign Relations Committee Chair, participation in last year’s IPU resulted in Georgia’s support by many countries at the NATO General Assembly.

“We hope this will continue in the future, and that is why this format has a special political significance for us toward non-recognition policy,” said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
