Parliament Speaker to have no obligation to share future programs when presenting annual report

The Georgian Parliament Speaker will no longer have the obligation to share a future program when presenting the annual report based on the amendment to the regulations.

The proposed draft states that the parliament’s legislative and supervisory activities represent parts of the political agenda of the parliamentary majority and the opposition, and it is unjustified for the Speaker to outline the Parliament’s activity plan in his report.

The new regulations also define the new duties of a parliamentary committee chairperson. The Committee Chair shall submit a written report on the committee’s activities to the Speaker annually by the end of January, based on which the Speaker of Parliament will prepare an annual report.
