Parliament Speaker – Those fined during the protest can apply to Constitutional Court

Archil Talakvadze, Parliament Speaker recommended those, who were fined during the protest at Rustaveli Avenue last night, to apply to Constitutional Court.

In an interview with journalists, Talakvadze clarified the sanctions imposed by the government regarding the regulation over location restrictions on movement.

“The location restrictions imposed in several cities of Georgia are introduced for prevention of pandemic and the parliament gave this right to the government by balloting. If someone thinks that there is anything unconstitutional over the fines, they can complain in the Constitutional Court,” Talakvadze said.

Based on the decision of Coordination Council, movement is restricted from 22:00 to 05:00 from November 9 in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Rustavi, Zugdidi, Gori and Poti. For violation of additional location restrictions on movement introduced from November 9, physical persons will be fined by 2 thousand GEL, legal persons – 10 thousand GEL.
