Parliament Speaker: Mutual respect for national interests to be cornerstone of our partnership with United States

“The United States is aware of our position. The foundation of our approach is centred on our people and the national interests of Georgia,” stated Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

He emphasised that respect for each other’s national interests is crucial to fostering a strong partnership between the two nations.

“The level of relations between Georgia and the United States has intensified since the Prime Minister engaged in a telephone conversation with the U.S. Secretary of State, during which many issues were agreed upon. Consequently, we are witnessing tangible steps forward in discussions about the future of our partnership. America understands our stance. At the heart of our approach lie our people and Georgia’s national interests. Any alliance with another country must be based on mutual respect for national interests, just as we respect those of the United States. Mutual respect for national interests will be the key principle guiding the partnership we envisage between our two nations,” Papuashvili asserted.
