Parliament Speaker meets with Vice President of India, Chairman of Upper House of Parliament
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has met with Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Parliament.
According to the Georgian Parliament’s press centre, both parties highlighted the warm and productive relations between Georgia and India, which continue to develop on the foundation of mutual respect.
The meeting underscored the significance of the historic visit by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament to India as a valuable opportunity to strengthen parliamentary ties.
Discussions covered a range of topics concerning bilateral relations, including parliamentary cooperation, as well as collaboration in trade, economics, investment, tourism, education, and culture.
The leaders also exchanged views on the current regional developments affecting both countries. The importance of peace and stability was emphasised, with particular focus on the potential of the Middle Corridor and the opportunities for cooperation in this regard.
The meeting took place as part of Shalva Papuashvili’s official visit to India. The Georgian parliamentary delegation includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee; Vasil Chigogidze, Head of the Friendship Group with the Indian Parliament; Shota Berekashvili, Chair of the Economic Policy Committee; and Greta Tsitsava, Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream Faction.
