Parliament approves Gender Equality Bill in third reading

The Georgian Parliament has approved the amended draft bill titled “On Gender Equality” during its third reading, with a unanimous vote of 80 in favour.

The proposed amendment will replace the term “gender equality” with “equality between a man and a woman.” Additionally, the term “special activity” will be revised.

The amendment outlines that norms will be established based on the law, which defines the obligations to create gender equality councils within the permanent parliamentary gender equality council, as well as in the high representative bodies of the Autonomous Republics and municipalities.
