Parliament approves amendments to Law on Rule of Government’s Structure, Authority, Activities

With 81 votes pro, the Georgian parliament approved amendments to the Law on Rule of Government’s Structure, Authority and Activities with its third reading on Thursday.

According to the government’s initiative, the Legal Entity of Public Law – the Public Service Bureau will be abolished, while its functions and duties will be assumed within the law by the Government Administration.

The rapporteur on this issue, Government’s Parliamentary Secretary Vakhtang Bachiashvili explained that following amendments, the Public Service Bureau will be stripped of certain functions, including declaring public officials, which was transferred to the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Accordingly, the issue of the bureau’s abolition was on the agenda.
