PACE President: Georgia chaired the Council of Europe for six months. It did a great job
Hendrik Daems, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has thanked Georgian Foreign Minister and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe for the work done during Georgian’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.
PACE President noted that “20 years ago, Georgia became a full member of the Council of Europe. Together with the organization, it has been protecting human rights, the rule of law and democracy.”
“Georgia has chaired the Council of Europe for six months and it has done a great job. It is not easy to manage the Committee of Ministers under COVID-19, but the work is nicely done,” said Hendrik Daems.
According to Daems, “the real legacy of the presidency is that Georgia managed to connect environmental issues with human rights.”
Georgian’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers has ended today. Greece took over the six-month chairmanship of the Council of Europe (CoE) from Georgia.
