Opposition MPs evaluate PM’s speech at UNGA

“The country’s leader is expected to make clearer accents on many topics in the current state of affairs.” Iago Khvichia, leader of the Girchi party, reacted to Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s address during the General Debate of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to the MP, the Prime Minister must take the current challenges more seriously. He also criticized the Prime Minister for his utterances about implementing the EC’s 12-point agenda.

“We are supposed to establish a consensus rather than merely formally negotiating it on paper. Unfortunately, there has been no movement towards reaching an agreement,” he stated.

Levan Ioseliani, a member of the Citizens Party, wanted the Prime Minister would stick to the words spoken from the UN floor. “I wished the Prime Minister would be committed to the messages when he returns to Georgia,” he remarked.

Ioseliani went on to say that, despite political disagreements, the opposition and ruling party should be together on national concerns like territorial integrity and Russian occupation.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili addressed the participants of the General Debate of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 22.
