Opposition MP says supporting President's impeachment to be continuation of anti-Western propaganda

Opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze said neither she nor Roman Gotsiridze, a lawmaker from the United National Movement (UNM) party, would not support President Salome Zourabichvili’s impeachment vote in the parliament since it would serve as a “continuation of anti-Western propaganda.”

Khatia Dekanoidze said she expected a “favourable decision” for the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party by the Constitutional Court over the issue.

“This is a process and a decision by Bidzina Ivanishvili (former GD Chair), which aims to create information chaos. The ruling team knows it cannot collect 100 votes, and I doubt such aids in the parliament.

But I cannot take responsibility for those people who represent the opposition. Those who vote for impeachment will participate in the European integration obstruction. Therefore, everyone should think before pressing the green button,” she said.

The Georgian parliament will hold an impeachment vote against President Salome Zourabichvili after the Constitutional Court makes its ruling.
