Opposition MP calls on opponents of Foreign Agent bill to prevent GD from dragging Georgia backwards

“We, the women in the parliament, who intended to speak about women’s quota and equality today, vow to fight against the “Russian legislation” and for Georgia’s progress,” said opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze.

According to Khatia Dekanoidze, following the national football team’s qualifying for the UEFA 2004 Euro Championships and the Georgians celebrating the victory together and united, the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party “dared” to resubmit the “Russian bill” to the Georgian supreme legislative body.

“I appeal to everyone, women, youngsters, our children, parents and all those who united, protesting against “the Russian law” last March, to do the best but prevent the government from dragging Georgia backward. We should mobilize our forces and fight against the biggest evil, which is Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream. We should stand on guard of our country’s future,” she said.

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party will resubmit a modified draft bill on transparency of foreign financing, said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority.

Holding a briefing at the GD central office, Mamuka Mdinaradze said that the draft law “On the Transparency of Foreign Influence” will have the same wording as last year, except for the term “agent of foreign influence,” which will be replaced with the term “organization pursuing the interests of a foreign power.”
