Occupied Tskhinvali preparing for a referendum on unification with Russia
De-facto South Ossetian government will apply to the supreme court to launch procedures for holding a referendum on unification with Russia, said de-facto president of the occupied Tskhinvali region, Anatoly Bibilov.
“Today, the window of opportunities opened for us and the South Ossetian Republic does not have the right to miss it,” Bibilov told Ria Novosti news agency.
De-facto leader explained that occupied South Ossetia might hold two referendums: first on integration with Russia and the second – on unification with the Russian Federation.
Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream (GD) party recommended not to pay much attention to the “illegitimate statements” by the puppet leader.
“It is better to pay less attention to such illegitimate statements that have to do with illegitimate elections and a referendum. Such statements aim to raise motivation among those in the Tskhinvali region,” Kobakhidze said.
