Nika Gvaramia: It is quite absurd for UNM, where party chairs change in scandalous succession, to lecture others about turbulence

“I am glad if you are listening and intend to turn a dysfunctional organism into a genuinely active team. I wish you well in that endeavour. I will be nothing but pleased if you are allowed to do so, and if the United National Movement finally stops abusing everyone and everything. You know my position on this, so my goodwill should come as no surprise,” wrote Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, on social media, in a direct response to Tina Bokuchava, Chairwoman of the United National Movement.

Gvaramia expressed his hope that the United National Movement would meaningfully engage in the Alliance’s activities.

“I also hope that you will actually take part in the Alliance’s work; in something, anything at all, beyond simply showing up at the stage before a rally and demanding the microphone. As for Tamar Baghashvili’s comment about my supposed attack on Misha Saakashvili, it bears no resemblance to reality and is dispiriting to hear, to put it mildly.

P.S. For the United National Movement, where party chairs have been changing scandalously for the past several years, to lecture another party about turbulence is, frankly, not to be taken seriously,” wrote Nika Gvaramia.

For context: United National Movement Chairwoman Tina Bokuchava, speaking on a media programme, had stated: “I did not expect to witness such an attack from Nika Gvaramia on the United National Movement. I believe this stems from the internal party turbulence within Ahali itself; it is precisely those internal difficulties that prompted him to make such a public statement. That is what I attribute this to, because the statement caught me entirely off guard and left me genuinely astonished. As for the United National Movement and the question of how effective the party is, believe me, if anyone understands what needs to be done to make the United National Movement an even stronger fighting force, it is me,” said Tina Bokuchava.
