A new port opened in Poti, the western Samegrelo region. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan and Georgian ministers attended the opening ceremony.
PM tagged the new port in Poti as an extremely important project for the region. He said the total investment is 93 million US dollars, which will increase to 120 million dollars after the completion of both phases of the project.
“This port is part of the physical lifeline connecting Georgia to Europe. It is also a symbol of Georgia’s continued Euro-Atlantic aspirations,” said US Ambassador.
Construction of the new port was carried out with joint efforts of PACE Group and US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
